Massage Therapy

A full-body massage session provides relief from muscle and joint pain; improves breathing efficiency as muscles relax; and offers a well-deserved break from the stresses of daily life.

Depending on the client's needs, preferences and comfort level, a Massage Therapy session may involve deep-tissue work to get relief from muscle strain; more moderate techniques to improve circulation and reduce overall tension; or very light touch which enables the elderly or those who are very ill to receive the benefits of massage touch. Most sessions involve a combination of these.

Clients are usually undressed during Swedish Massage; appropriate draping procedures are maintained, and client privacy is respected at all times.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Eastern healing technique. Reiki, or 'Universal Life Energy', works on the energetic, rather than the physical level. The theory of Reiki teaches that the hands of the Reiki practitioner transmit energy to the receiver, in order to enhance the receiver's innate ability to heal himself or herself. It is a completely non-invasive method - the healer's hands are placed gently on different parts of the receiver's body, or hover above.

If you'd like to learn more about Reiki, send me an email and request your free copy of "What is This Thing Called Reiki?", a fact sheet written specifically to answer your questions about what it is, how it works, and what to expect from a Reiki healing session.

Medical Conditions

Massage feels great! It's also good for you. Clinial studies continue to reveal the multiple benefits of Massage Therapy, including helping to lower blood pressure, increase the body's immune response system, and raise the level of endorphins, hormones that act as the body's natural painkillers. As a result of relieving stress through massage therapy, clients often report improved concentration, clearer thinking and a more positive outlook on life.

Massage therapy can also be helpful before and after many surgical procedures; as part of the healing process for sprains and fractures; and in conjunction with chemotherapy. Clients should obtain their primary care practioner's approval prior to having massage in these circumstances.
